BAND OF THE DAY #190 - Gemma Hayes
Gemma Hayes has long established herself as one of Ireland’s foremost musical talents. Known for her eclectic blend of folk, prog rock and electronica, Gemma has managed to carve out quite a rare musical path. Her debut album, Night on My Side, received great critical acclaim from all corners, garnering a prestigious UK Mercury Prize nomination and earning her an award as Ireland’s best female. Gemma’s subsequent release, The Roads Don’t Love You, earned her yet another nod as Ireland’s best female artist.
Gemma Hayes much anticipated fourth studio album, Let it Break, is out now and is an evolution of Gemma’s unique style of music, combining prog rock, folk and electronica. The album is a collaboration with producer David Odlum, and features Paul Noonan of Bell X1 and Ann Scott. Keep Running is the first single to be taken from the album.
The BBC said ‘softly spoken acoustic guitar songs that can transfix you with their beauty’.

Guys thank you so much for all the confessions you’ve sent over the last 20 hours or so of me not having internet. (I moved back into College and the internet was off. And if you’re wondering yes there was a riot. haha) I just wanted to say,
I love the confessions guys! I always wondered if people who listen to Gemma Hayes learn something about themselves or the world around them through her music. I’m really loving that we decided to start the confessions page for fyeagemmahayes, for all the confessions I received I’m sure that the confessions blog will be up for a long time, or until the confessions craze blows over.
Hope everyone’s having a good summer!
I’ll start putting the confessions on queue just in case I lose internet again. (Which shouldn’t happen for a long long time.)
